The Bailey brothers are alone... except for each other. Ty'Ree, Charlie, and Lafayette lost their mother Milagros (that's Spanish for ""Miracle"") to a heart attack, leaving them orphans. So Ty'Ree gave up college to come home to Harlem and look out for his younger brothers. But after spending two years in juvie, Charlie's changed and his little brother Laf isn't sure he likes this ""New Charlie."" Lafayette needs Charlie's help for the upcoming baseball tryouts; Charlie wants 100 dollars from Milagros' box to play guitar at talent night at a new club, but Ty'Ree refuses.

Lafayette tries to ask Angelina out but is interrupted by Charlie, who confesses his true feelings for her. Charlie runs away from home and he leaves when Fix and some guy steal video games, and still does not return home.

Lafayette and Ty'Ree pray that Charlie comes back home and after watching Laf's baseball game, Charlie is taken away by the police, and might go back to juvy.
